Case studies will highlight two core lines of effort captured in the Navy’s climate strategy.
Case Study 1: Leveraging REPI and Sikes Act authority to utilize the natural infrastructure to build resilience, sequester carbon, and achieve local, landscape, and regional-scale climate solutions at Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station.
Case Study 2: Collaborating with California Energy Commission, Oregon Department of Energy, municipal agencies, and community partners to leverage aligned strategic partnerships and grant opportunities with the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation to assess transmission infrastructure and power distribution nodes for areas with significant renewable energy resources, onshore and offshore, in areas more compatible with the Department of Navy’s military operations.
