Combating Mental Health Challenges in Military Communities

In the past five years, the suicide rate among active duty service members has increased by 41%. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, under the Reducing Opioid Use and Misuse through Mental Health First Aid in Rural Texas grant, has worked to address mental health and resource disparities. This session will serve as a model for how installations and communities can provide evidence-based harm reduction education and intervention to combat mental health challenges in the military.
