Sixty six percent of the commonwealth’s military installations are in the Reserve Component. While they don’t generate the economic impact and jobs of an active duty installation, they are critical to Massachusetts’ regional economy. While it is easy to prioritize the needs of the big job creators and economic engines, the commonwealth, through its Military Asset and Security Strategy Task Force, emphasizes the success of its Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard installations.
Since 2016, the commonwealth has invested over $26 million in our Reserve component installations. Recently, in partnership with Fort Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, secured an additional $4.6 million Defense Community Infrastructure Program grant to improved emergency service for the base and community.
